Ski areál Kvilda
When you say Šumava, many people think of the Vltava River spring, quiet, beautiful nature… all of these things you can find in Kvilda in Šumava, 5 km from the springs of the Vltava River in the region called “plains of Šumava” near the coldest place in the Czech Republic (Jezerní slať).
The ski resort, ideal for families with children and beginners thanks to its location and elevation difference, lies right in the centre of the town with sufficient capacity of car parks and restaurants. In total, 4 ski lifts for public and other 2 ski lifts of baby ski school Ski KVILDA have sufficient capacity for all clients accommodated right in Kvilda or in near Borové lady, Filipova Huť,
Modrava or Horská Kvilda. Night skiing is possible once a week for now, next season it will be in operation every day. A snow-making system and other modernization are planned for summer 2011. The accommodation capacity of Kvilda is more than 1,000 beds and, together with surrounding towns, it exceeds 3,000 beds of all levels from hostels to four-star hotels.
Cross-country ski tracks are another chapter of this area. There is not only start and finish of the popular ski marathon of Šumava, but also regularly prepared tracks at the length of about 60 km. In the centre of Šumava, these tracks are connected with other 200-250 km of cross-country ski tracks all over Šumava. Therefore, Kvilda is an ideal starting point for both winter and summer wanderings through Šumava…
